“The Smile”

The big smile, so bright and wide
The inner pain and turmoil within to conceal and hide
To wear at all times, no matter the cost
To disguise true feelings over what has been lost
We all wear that smile from time to time
To make even the darkest days seem sublime
But the day will come soon
When those dark days will no longer loom
Happiness, joy, laughter will reign supreme
No longer just a hope or unfulfilled dream
The smile, will then be just a smile, no longer a mask
To be there to see it is all that I ask
That big smile, so bright and wide
To see you again Mommie and you to see me
As we stand, side by side
